Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH), qualification
The APLH qualification is required to apply for a Personal Licence to sell alcohol in England and Wales. Companies within the licensed trade actively look for people with this training qualification as it demonstrates they have an understanding of their chosen profession.
The Licensing Act 2003 states that anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol must hold a "Personal Licence" issued by their local authority. Once you have gained the APLH qualification you need to apply for your Personal Licence, 21st Century Licensing can obtain this for you through our Personal Licence Application service.
The APLH training course provides each student with a clear understanding of the framework of law and regulation that underpins the responsibilities of the personal licence holder. This includes:
If your employment or job application requires you to authorise retail sales of alcohol in England and Wales you must complete the APLH course in order to apply for a personal licence.
The Examination: A multiple choice question examination immediately follows the APLH training course.
