A few weeks ago, we published a blog explaining the importance of checking the immigration status of your staff and being able to document you had done so.

Last week we were in a licensing hearing in Southend-on-Sea defending a client for just such alleged failings.

The Police had contended that an illegal worker was found on site during a routine licensing inspection and sought revocation of the Premises Licence at a review hearing.

Without going into the full details, we were pleased to be able to convince the sub-committee not to revoke the licence and our client’s business was saved. This is however, a timely reminder to all to re-read our original blog and avoid being caught out in error.
