The two applications were originally opposed by the police, licensing authority and other departments of the council.  Successful negotiations with most parties were had and at a hearing earlier this month the remaining representations from the council planners were also overcome.

Ravens, a top-end restaurant and function space in central Southend operates on the first floor and roof terrace of their Clifftown Road site and got its licence till 3.30am.  Downstairs ‘The Vine (Southend)’in gained permissions for its ground floor and basement bars (also available for hire) till 4am.
