The latest amendment to the now somewhat butchered Licensing Act 2003 came into effect on Thursday 27th June 2013 and de-regulates certain Regulated Entertainment
The Order removes the need for entertainment licensing, between 8am and 11pm, for performances of plays and the performance of dance* (with audiences up to 500 people), and indoor sport (1,000 people) . It also clarifies the position on combined fighting sports and martial arts.
*Adult dancing (lap dancing and strip clubs) remains regulated.
